Platform Gaming Names
A gaming username has to survive more environments than any single gamertag: friends lists, forums, launchers and chats. This generator produces cross-platform-safe usernames by default — plain letters, sensible length, no decoration — then adapts when you target a specific platform.

A gamertag is platform-branded — Xbox gamertags, PSN online IDs — while a username is the generic account identifier every service uses. In practice you want one identity that fits both, so this generator's universal profile enforces the strict intersection: four characters minimum, twelve maximum, letters first, no separators.
Switch the platform selector to enforce a specific service's rules instead: Discord's lowercase format, Twitch's four-character floor, Roblox's single-underscore limit and others are all encoded from documented rules.
Using the same username everywhere makes you findable and protects against impersonation confusion. Generate with the universal profile, shortlist in favourites, then verify the name on each platform you care about — availability is decided there, not here.
Where a name is taken, keep the identity by adding a consistent suffix on that platform only, or use More Like This to find a close variant you can register everywhere.
A username is infrastructure. Long after the current game of the month has been retired, the account name is what friend requests, clan rosters and reputation attach to — which is why the cheapest time to get it right is now, before years of history accrete onto a compromise. The players who think in decades pick names that are neutral enough to survive genre changes and distinctive enough to be findable.
Portability has a technical definition here: the intersection of every major platform's rules, which works out to plain letters, starting with a letter, and at most twelve characters. Generate inside that envelope and the same name registers on Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, Discord, Twitch, Roblox and Minecraft without edits. Step outside it — a capital letter for Discord, an underscore for Roblox — and you are maintaining two identities forever.
When a name is unavailable somewhere, resist the urge to bolt numbers onto it; instead vary the word. A consistent identity called Vorelan and Vorelan_ and Vorelan99 across three platforms is three identities. One called Vorelan and Vorelin is recognisably one person — and the second spelling took one click of More Like This, not a compromise.
How the quality score works
Every name is scored out of 100 on measurable format traits — length, pronounceability, cleanliness, numeric noise and platform fit — and the reasons are shown on each card. The score never represents availability, legal uniqueness or trademark clearance. See the gamertag score tool for the full breakdown.
